Randolph had one senior on this year's title team. Mankato East repeated as Class 3A champion to continue the Big Nine Conference dominance of the class. 7 of 8 titles to 5 different Big Nine schools.
ROCORI defeated Simley 8-6 Thursday night to capture the Class 3-A State Consolation Championship at Caswell Park in North Mankato. The Spartans broke the scoreless tie in the 4th inning with 2 runs and then posted 6 runs in the 6th inning to lead 8-0.
ROCORI defeated Benilde-St. Margaret's 11-1 in 6 innings in the Class 3-A State Tournament consolation semifinals Thursday in North Mankato. ROCORI scored 2 runs apiece in the 1st, 3rd and 4th innings and erupted for 5 runs to put the game away in the 6th inning.
The ROCORI softball team is making their 3rd straight state tournament appearance at the Class 3-A State Tournament in North Mankato this week. The Spartans are 19-2, seeded 4th and will play 5th seeded St. Francis Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in the State Quarterfinals.
Section 1 is represented by Blooming Prairie, Randolph, Winona and New Prague. All those teams did receive a top 4 seed with coaches in the tournament conducting the voting.
