Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, was stabbed by another inmate and seriously injured Friday at a federal prison in Arizona.
The Minneapolis police department has seen a significant drop in sworn officers while funding remains nearly the same more than three years after the death of George Floyd and the start of the movement to shift resources away from police.
The complaint noted that Stetson had been a Minneapolis police officer since at least 2011 and had received about 1,200 hours of training, including training on how to de-escalate situations.
