Steele County Public Health Gains Additional Funding for Health & Wellbeing
Steele County Public Health is thrilled to announce additional funding for the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership Community Partner Awards.
This funding will provide over $20,000 to community organizations, schools, and workplaces to support initiatives that promote physical activity, healthy eating, commercial tobacco prevention, and mental wellbeing.
The overall goal is to create lasting improvements to policies, systems, and environments, to make healthy living easier for Steele County residents and prevent chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Steele County SHIP (Statewide Health Improvement Partnership) has funded a variety of impactful projects, including physical education and playground equipment in schools, healthy snack stations and breastfeeding rooms in workplaces, and smoke-free signage throughout the community.
Ethan Rindfleisch, Steele County SHIP Coordinator says,
Steele County’s SHIP program is able to award additional funding this year due to a staffing transition which freed up budgeted funds that were carried forward into this year.
Interested applicants should submit an Idea Proposal, available on the SCPH website under 'Funding Opportunities' by March 3rd at 5:00 pm. Applicants will then meet with the SHIP Coordinator to discuss next steps and complete a full application.
Applications will be reviewed by Steele County’s SHIP Community Leadership Team, a dedicated group of individuals that represent SHIP’s priority areas and amplify the voices of Steele County’s diverse population to ensure community-driven funding decisions. Award announcements are expected in early April.
For questions, please contact Ethan Rindfleisch at SHIP@SteeleCountyMN.gov or (507) 444-7650.
