South Central College (SCC) will host Community Open Houses on Monday, June 26, 2023 on their North Mankato Campus and Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at their Faribault Campus.

Both events are being held betweek 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

POWER 96 Radio (95.9 FM) Faribault will broadcast from the Wednesday event between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. with personality Pete Hanson at the microphone.

Pete will have some giveaways and SCC will provide refreshments and drawings for prizes.

The first 100 people will receive SCC metal water bottles.

The event will also provide the opportunity to learn about the various services offered to students that support their success.

"SCC is proud to be South Central Minnesota's hometown college," said Judy Endres, SCC Vice President of Student Affairs.  "Whether you have never visited South Central College, it's been awhile or you just visited recently, we encourage you to stop by to see the campuses and learn about our college."

South Central College's Community Open Houses are part of Minnesota State Week, celebrated by the 26 state colleges and seven state universities throughout Minnesota.

Tuition is not going up next school year for students in the Minnesota State system.

Spokesman Doug Anderson says state lawmakers provided an historic 292-million-dollar investment which makes the freeze possible.

Tuition averaged just over 86-hundred dollars at Minnesota State Universities and 54-hundred dollars at it's colleges this past school year.

The Board of Trustees approved the operating budget Wednesday, June 21, 2023 for the 2024 fiscal year that freezes tuition.
