Snowmobile Goes Through Ice on Wells Lake Near Faribault
Rice County Sheriff Jesse Thomas confirmed for KDHL his office did receive a call over the weekend of a snowmobile being submerged in Wells Lake.
The snowmobile broke through the ice near the County Road 12 bridge between Wells Lake and Cannon Lake.
Thomas says witnesses did report seeing the snowmobile break through and the dirver left the scene. In fact he stated someone came to pick up the operator.
A Department of Natural Resources officer joined 3 divers in assessing the situation and they felt the snowmobile will be more easily viewed when it warms up later this week and the water opens up more.
Then they'll be able to get a picture and determine the owner.
The Rice County Sheriff's Office would appreciate anyone with information about the owner, driver or anyone involved with the snowmobile to give them a call.
Just phone 507-334-4391 and ask to speak with a deputy.
