Hope Mills, NC (KROC-AM News) - The winning ticket for Saturday nights Powerball jackpot was purchased in North Carolina.

Lottery officials in that state say the ticket for the $344 million jackpot was sold by an IGA store in the town of Hope Mills, which is a suburb of Fayetteville. The lucky winner, who has 180 days to claim the big prize, has the option of accepting a lump sum cash payment of just over $223 million.

The winning numbers in the Saturday, June 1 drawing were white balls 6, 15, 34, 45, 52, plus Powerball 8, and Power Play multiplier 2X.

The Powerball organization reported it was only the second Powerball jackpot to be won this year. The other was claimed by a Wisconsin man who won the third largest lottery jackpot in the U.S. at over $768 million.

There were no second-place winners, but lottery officials reported there were 23 tickets sold that are each worth $50,000.
