Severe Weather Hits Kenyon Area
A large tree on the boulevard infront of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kenyon was knocked down by high winds this evening.
I was coming home from the Goodhue County Fair in Zumbrota and noticed a number of small branches and leaves in yards as I drove into Kenyon.
Police vehicle lights could be seen toward the west end of the community as I entered the downtown area.
I spoke with a Kenyon Polieman on the scene and he stated the storm packed high winds and moved through town in a flash.
Thank Heavens no injuries were reported. When I was leaving a City of Kenyon Public Works employee was arriving with a chain saw to get the tree cut up and a front loader was also brought to the scene to hall the pieces away.
Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for a large portion of the KDHL listening area.
Included were Rice, Goodhue, Dodge, Steele, Mower and Fillmore Counties.
Severe Thunderstorms were also reported in Winona County and western Wisconsin.
I did receive a report of a grain bin down in Claremont area of Dodge County.
