Every year the Minnesota State Fair and Minnesota Farm Bureau recognize farms that have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years as Centennial Farms. In addition the Minnesota Farm Bureau recognize farms that have been in continuous family ownership for at least 150 years as Sesquicentennial Farms.

Sesquicentennial Farms being recognized this year date back to their beginning in the 1850's and 1860's. That is back around the time Minnesota became a state. These families owned these farms through two world wars, the great depression and the Farm Crisis of the 1980's. I was looking over the list and I noticed Goodhue County has 7 Sesquicentennial Farms this year!
