The Rice County Sheriff's Office posted to social media on Wednesday a picture of a stolen ATV in the hopes that someone from the area might come forward and offer assistance in locating it. The stolen ATV is a 2015 Polaris Razer RZR-15 blue in color and may have front end damage as the thief drove it through a chain-link fence before fleeing.

As stated in the post the Rice County Sheriff's Office is offering a reward for information related to anyone who can lead to the recovery of the ATV and/or information that leads to charges on the suspect.

The Sheriff's Office reported that on April 3rd it has taken a stolen ATV report after a 2015 Polaris Razer RZR-15 was taken from LaCanne’s Marine located just outside of Faribault at 19860 Roberds Lake Blvd.

In a perfect world we wouldn't have to worry about ATV theft, but sadly our world isn't perfect. Here are some tips from Outdoorlife.com to help prevent your ATV or side-by-side from getting stolen.

  • Removing the valve stems from two of the ATV's tires, which will allow them to go flat. (yes you will have to re-install the stems and re-inflate, but that's cheaper and generally faster than explaining to your wife why you need to buy a new ATV)
  • If your ATV has drilled brake rotors, you can put a padlock through one of the holes in the rotor to prevent the machine from being rolled away.
  • If your machine, like most, has an electric starter, pull the fuse and the spare to make it difficult to start.
  • Lock it up! Chaining a machine to a tree or camper with a quality chain and lock can do the trick. Like a bike, make sure the chain goes through the frame rather than locking the chain to a wheel.

Any information on this theft should be directed to the Rice County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division. The number to call is 507-334-4391.
