Rice County Salvation Army Goal Apparently Reached
Jim Dale, Rice County Salvation Army Unit Volunteer Coordinator told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners today thanks to a "miracle" final week it is believed they reached their goal.
The fundraising goal was set at $60,000. $10,000 above the 2020 goal because the board believed the need was growing for their services.
Dale emphasized the need for board members. The time commitment is not that great he said to be a board member.
Meetings are typically the third Monday of the month (except this month with MLK Day) at 4:00 p.m.
Board members are not required to ring bells Dale pointed out so if mobility makes bell ringing uncomforable you can help by being an organizer on the board.
Board members help recruit bell ringers for the campaign. Dale was happy to report they had enough bell ringers for this year's campaign with many slots open when we last visited with him in Northfield on December 8, 2021 at the Professional Pride Realty office.
Lots of churches stepped up to help out. Some student organizations in need of community service hours also took time slots to ring.
Dale believes when folks see young people ringing in the cold it motivates them to give to the campaign.
The just completed campaign had seven kettles placed at six locations across Rice County.
Two kettles in Northfield, one in Lonsdale, three on Saturdays and two the other days in Faribault.
Saturday-only bell ringing occurred at WalMart at two different doors. Kettles were also stationed at the Fareway and HyVee food stores in Faribault.
The board meets later today where a report will be delivered with the preliminary numbers. The official numbers will be determined by the state office in Roseville.
