Rice County Has Huge Spike in COVID Positives
After a generally quiet week Rice County saw a jump in positive COVID-19 cases in the Friday Minnesota Department of Health Report. The numbers are for Thursday.
The Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault now has the most positive cases of COVID-19 of any prison in the state according to the Minnesota Department of Health with 155 confirmed positives. That surpasses Willow River's 73 and Moose Lake's 45.
The Faribault numbers reported were 1,916 incarcerated people tested, 1,747 confirmed negatives, 155 confirmed positives and 14 tests pending.
The jump was 81 reported positives. Thank Heaven no new deaths were reported. Rice County still has 3 deaths from the virus with no vaccine. The total positives are now 685 with ages ranging from 2 months to 91 years (average is 37).

Testing is available in Rice County at Allina Faribault by appointment during the week between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Symptomatic and asymptomatic patients will be taken. Asymptomatic recent mass gathering attendees. Healthfinders Collaborative is also testing by appointment uninsured residents that meet the collaborative requirements. Hours are 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the week.
Northfield Hospital and Clinics are testing by appointment during the week between 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Waseca and Waseca County evidently has no testing according to the MDH website.
If you live in Goodhue County the only testing is at Red Wing Mayo Clinic with drive-up by appointment available 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week. They accept any symptomatic patients.
Steele County has one testing site at Mayo Owatonna with drive-up by appointment. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the week and on weekends for any symptomatic patients.
Wabasha County testing is at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center by appointment. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the week for any symptomatic patients.
Scott County testing locations include Allina Health Shakopee from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the week by appointment. Parkview Medical Clinic New Prague drive-up for established patients only. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the week. 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on weekend. Ridgeview Belle Plaine by appointment symptomatic patients aged 12 and older 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the week.
Dakota County includes testing at Northfield Hospital and Clinics. The facility is in Dakota County. Specifics listed earlier. Park Nicollet Lakeville HealthPartners by appointment only 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the week 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on weekend. Valley Medical and Wellness Burnsville schedule appointments online. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Other testing in Dakota County is available in Hastings and West St. Paul.
