The annual discussion about publishing costs came up during the Rice County Board of Commissioners orginizational meeting Tuesday.  Commissioner Jeff Docken of Lonsdale suggested the board at least look into the possiblity of having their website be the official site for county business.  County Auditor Treasurer Fran Windschitl noted the county spends about 61 thousand dollars a year on all paper publishing and said he would bring the costs to the board at a later date.  Board members Galen Malecha of Northfield, Jake Gillen and Steve Bauer of Faribault all commented in favor of continuing to publish the financial statements, proceedings and agendas in the newspaper.  The agendas will be published in the Northfield and Faribault papers and all other publishings will be in the Faribault paper at an increased cost from a year ago.

The County Board considers publishing their official business items on their website instead of paying for printing in newspapers.
