Monday was the first day of the Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour, Scouts were in South Dakota on the Western Leg and Ohio on the Eastern this morning. Both tours will meet up in Rochester Thursday evening. Pro Farmers corn crop estimate typically is released Friday afternoon after the markets close. They do not estimate a bean yield but rather just measure the number of pods in a 3 by 3 square and compare that to other years pod counts.

It is interesting reading analysts and traders talk about the Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour. For the most part they expect it to be bearish and the corn yield just a little below the August USDA Supply Demand Report. However, we will likely get some interesting tweets from the crop scouts as to what they are seeing in the fields on their individual routes. I still think it will take well into harvest before we really know how bi the corn and soybean crop is this year.
