Emily Annexstad from Nicollet County was crowned the 64th Princess Kay of the Milky Way last evening in the Band Shell at the Minnesota State Fair. Emily is the daughter of Rolf and Jean Annexstad from St. Peter. Emily will be a sophomore at the University of Minnesota this fall studying animal science and agricultural communications and marketing.

Emily also won one of the $500 scholarships from the Midwest Dairy Association along with Samantha Traxler from Le Sueur County and Jessaca Zuidema from Kandiyohi County. Miss Congeniality who was chosen by all the contestants was Quincy Scherber from Hennepin County. Emily's first job today as the Good Will Ambassador of the Dairy Industry in Minnesota is to spend about eight hours in the cooler having her likeness carved out of a 90-pound block of butter.

In the other picture is the 63rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way Haley Hinrichs from Goodhue County with her Dad. I took this right after the coronation. Haley did a great job in her retiring address about how proud she was to represent all the hardworking dairy farm families in Minnesota.
