A popular Southern Minnesota pizzeria made the decision recently to keep its dining room closed to the public as they continue to focus on "curbside pickup, catering & vending services." Pizzeria 201 located in Montgomery has had its dining room closed since March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A post last week from the popular pizzeria indicated that there was the possibility of opening the dining room still this year, but current plans are to remain focused on curbside, catering, and vending services. Just this past weekend Pizzeria 201 had two ovens going right down the road from me for a graduation party, and you could tell people were lining up for the 'za, so business is still booming for the pizzeria.

Pizzeria 201 hasn't let the pandemic deter their creativity as they rolled out a limited edition SPAM pizza earlier this year, and they continue to innovate in flavors and other meal options like pasta, and desserts.

Will the closed dining trend continue? Maybe as right now alot of businesses are struggling to hire help, A&W in Faribault is another restaurant that hasn't opened up their dining room yet, and part of that reasoning is they don't have enough help to open it up.

The pizzeria is open Wednesday through Sunday 4-8pm. You can get more information from their website here.

The Star Tribune reported that in 2020 alone 94 restaurants closed in the Twin Cities area, many due to the restrictions put in place due to COVID-19. One of those restaurants that closed was the Lakeside Supper Club on Highway 13 back in February.
