Oak Hill Community Connections in Owatonna is announcing a major milestone in its efforts to unite support services in Steele County. The organization has successfully raised $2 million of its $4 million goal to build a new collaborative center that will provide vital short-term housing, medical, dental, behavioral health supports and wrap around services to individuals and families in need.

Steele County, along with several neighboring communities, has faced an increase in the demand for short term housing and supportive services.

The reasons people seek support are as varied as the individuals themselves. Some are facing unexpected challenges, while others are courageously leaving unsafe situations. Whatever the circumstance, the need for comprehensive support services is real, and it is growing.

Mike Keller, Co-chair of Oak Hill Community Connections’ campaign says,

The opportunity to help our community, to support our neighbors, and to make a lasting difference is significant. This is a community-wide effort to create a solution that better connects people to the resources and support they need to thrive.

Oak Hill Community Connections will be a collaborative hub where local organizations and service providers can work together to offer support for those facing instability. Oak Hill will host partnering service agencies that offer:

  • Safe, short-term housing for individuals and families
  • Job training, employment assistance, and financial literacy programs
  • Health and wellness services, including medical, dental and behavioral health support
  • Access to nutritious food and other basic needs
  • Long-term housing placement and stability services support

With $2 million remaining to meet the fundraising goal, over the coming months Oak Hill will be reaching out to community members, local businesses, and organizations to help make the vision a reality.

Jolayne Mohs, President of the Oak Hill Community Connections Board adds,

Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to providing lasting solutions for families in our community. The generosity so far has been incredible. We are deeply grateful to our supporters and excited for the future, knowing that together, we are making a difference.

On February 12th, Oak Hill Community Connections will be conducting a Local Business Visits Day to share important updates about the project and ensure everyone has an opportunity to join in with a meaningful gift.

What to Expect on February 12, from 9 to Noon
