Owatonna Rolls Past Northfield

Owatonna closed the regular season with a 42-0 win at Northfield on Wednesday night. Playoffs are scheduled to begin next week. But several questions exist on which teams will take part.

The Huskies (4-2) scored on their first two drives, played with short fields all night long, and limited the Raiders to less than 40 total yards. OHS ran nearly 70 plays to just 27 for Northfield (0-6). Brayden Truelson threw touchdown passes to Tanner Hall, Nick Williams, and Payton Beyer. Hall, Dylan Maas, and Taylor Bogen each ran in a score as well. The Huskies defense forced a safety too.

Owatonna rushed 40 times for about 130 yards, for an average of 3.25 yards per carry. The Huskies passes 27 times with 18 completions for about 215 yards. Northfield longest play from scrimmage was a 15-yard run in the third quarter for one of just two first downs on the night. Owatonna sacked Raiders' quarterbacks three times.

OHS will be the top seed in Section 1-5A. Northfield will reportedly decide Friday if they will play in the section tournament. The district is going on distance learning next week and will cease sports and activities on November 18. If the Raiders were to participate in the playoffs and win a quarterfinal game, they would not be able to play in the semifinals.

Rochester John Marshall cancelled their game with Mankato West on Wednesday, leaving the Rockets participation up-in-the-air. Mayo, Century and Austin round out the section. OHS is the four-time defending champ.
