Preston, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is planning an open house next week for a new veterans home in southeast Minnesota

Preston is one of three Minnesota city’s that’s set to have a home for the state’s veterans opening this year. Officials broke ground on the home in August 2021 and opened residential applications to eligible veterans and spouses of eligible veterans last September.

The home was also the recent recipient of part of an $80,000 donation from the VFW - Charles McLaughlin Post 906 in Hutchinson. The Preston home was given $10,000 that will go towards buying TV’s for residents' rooms, according to the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. 

Potential residents, employees and local businesses are invited to an open house from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29. The event is being held at 144 Main St. Southwest in Preston.
