Plans have been scrapped to build an Ice Castle for fans of the St. Paul Winter Carnival and the Super Bowl.

Ice Cold Events was in charge of the project. They say that they could not get enough solid financial backing for the project. The Ice Castle that was built for the 1992 Super Bowl was $1 million dollars. 2.5 million visitors came to the castle but the carnival still had to file for bankruptcy.

It was estimated that they were going to need at least $5 million dollars this time around.

The 2018 St. Paul Winter Carnival runs January 25-February 10. The Super Bowl is Sunday February 4th at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
