The Rice County Sheriff's Office reports two elementary aged students suffered minor injuries and a 58 year old rural New Prague man had serious injuries following a collision between a school bus and pickup Thursday.

The Sheriff's Office received the call at 3:01 p.m. and were joined at the intersection of 70th Street West and Jackson Avenue in Rice County by the Lonsdale Police Department, Lonsdale Fire and Rescue and North Ambulance.

Two students were checked out at the scene by medics for minor injuries and released to their parents/guardians.

There were several students on the New Prague bus and the others were placed on a different bus and the route was completed.

According to the Rice County Sheriff's Department news release the pickup driven by Andrew Pany was eastbound and collided in the intersection with the southbound school bus driven by Jerry Iverson, 73, of Prior Lake.

Sheriff Dunn tells KDHL it is a controlled intersection and the crash is still being investigated by his department.

Dunn says all parties are cooperating with the investigation.

Pany suffered a serious leg injury and was still hospitalized at a metro hospital.
