New Laws That Take Effect on New Year’s Day in Minnesota

A new year brings a new batch of laws that officially take effect at midnight on New Year's Day in Minnesota.

Some of the most notable laws that go into effect when we flip our calendars to 2025 include:

• The Ticketing Fairness Act requires 'all-in pricing' that shows the entire cost of a ticket upfront, including any fees -- while banning deceptive advertising and speculative pricing.

• A new law targeting Junk Fees includes more rules requiring sellers to include all fees associated with a purchase to be revealed upfront. Surprising, last-minute fees for online purchases will be prohibited.

• If you're looking for a new job, a new law will require Job Listings to include a starting salary range (or fixed pay rate), and a general description of all benefits and other compensation.
