MSHSL Section Football Seeds Determined

The second season for Minnesota high school football starts next week with some loaded Section Tournaments throughout the area.

Action starts 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

In Section 1A Fillmore Central was awarded the top seed by the coaches.  Bethlehem Academy is #2.  The Falcons will host Hayfield while the Cardinals are the home team against Wabasha-Kellogg at KM Telecom Stadium in Kasson.

The Faribault Falcons have a home game also Tuesday which necessitated the move for Bethlehem Academy.

#3 seed Kenyon-Wanamingo opens with #6 Rushford-Peterson in the Moat in Kenyon.

#4 seed Goodhue hosts #5 Blooming Prairie.

Semi-finals are Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the high seed with the Section title game Friday, November 3, 2023 at a site to be determined according to the MSHSL bracket.

The Faribault Falcons are the #4 seed in Section 1AAAA where there are five teams in the section.  Top seed Kasson-Mantorville will host the winner of the game at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023.

#2 seed Byron and #3 seed Winona each have Tuesday off and play Saturday in Byron at 7:00 p.m.

Section 1AA has six teams with the top two seeds getting Tuesday off.  #1 Caledonia and #2 Dover-Eyota.

#3 Chatfield has #6 Cotter at their field while #4 St. Charles hosts #5 Lewiston-Altura.

Semi-finals are Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at high seed.

Section 1AAA top seed Stewartville open with #8 Red Wing.  #2 seed Rochester Lourdes goes up against #7 seed Zumbrota-Mazeppa.

#5 seed Pine Island travels to #4 seed Lake City.  #3 seed Plainview-Elgin-Millville faces LaCrescent.

Semi-finals are Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the high seed with championship on Friday, November 3, 2023 at a site to be determined.

Section 1AAAAA top seed Owatonna, #2 seed Northfield and #3 seed New Prague all got byes.  Saturday, October 28, 2023 7:00 p.m. the Huskies will host either #4 Rochester John Marshall or #5 Rochester Century.

Semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday night, 7:00 p.m. in Owatonna and Northfield.

Section 1 Nine-Player top seed Kingsland hosts the #8 Lanesboro Burros.  #2 seed Leroy-Ostrander tangles with #7 seed Grand Meadow.

#3 seed Spring Grove entertains #6 Mabel-Canton while #5 Southland goes to #4 Houston.

Semi-finals are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the high seed.  Section Final will be Friday, November 3,2023 at a site to be determined.

Cannon Falls is in Section 4AA after moving down a class from a year ago.  The top two seeds received byes in the tournament with #1 St. Agnes and #2 Norwood-Young America those top seeds.

#5 Rush City goes to #4 Randolph Tuesday with the winner playing St. Agnes at Concordia University in St. Paul at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Winner of the Cannon Falls game has to go to Norwood-Young America for a 1:00 p.m. game on the same day.

Section 2AA top two seeds are off Tuesday night.  #1 Maple River, #2 St. Clair/Loyola.

#4 seed New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva has #5 Blue Earth Area in New Richland on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

#3 seed Triton hosts #6 seed Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton at the same time.

Semi-finals are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023 with the Section final scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, 7:00 po.m. at J-W-P Stadium.

Section 2A  top two seeds, #1 Mayer Lutheran and #2 Lester Prairie have Tuesday off.

The Crusaders will play the #4 United South Central vs #5 St. James winner 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

#3 seed Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop hosts Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Section 2AAAAA is another 5-team section with #1 Chanhassen, #2 Mankato West and #3 Chaska all getting byes.

The only game in the Section 2AAAAA Tournament Tuesday, October 24, 2023,  #5 seed Mankato East goes to #4 seed Waconia.
