The Morristown Gun Club is hosting a youth trap shooting league this summer.  Pete Mergens is Head Coach of the Northfield high school team and proudly revealed the news on KDHL today.

Mergens says, "Unfortunately the high school season was cancelled this spring due to COVID-19 but the gun club we call our home has put together a youth trap league for the summer."

In addition to members of the Northfield team other schools competing will be Faribault High School, Bethlehem Academy and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.

"It's really exciting and glad to be able to produce something for the kids to hopefully get out of the house here and enjoy a little bit of the outdoors,"  Mergens added.

The league will be starting before the end of this month and run through the middle of July.

Social distancing is not a problem for this sport Mergens points out, "Just by it's nature the athletes are more than 6 feet apart at any given time.  It was actually cleared by the Governor after the first stay at home order to allow gun ranges to open up."

The teams competing all call the Morristown Gun Club which is about 4 miles north of Morristown their home.

This will be individual competition, not team.
