In an announcement on the Torchlight Parade and Fireworks social media page the event will be canceled in 2020 due to "the pandemic restrictions by our state government." The event is Montgomery's winter celebration, and also the only time you'll see legal aerial fireworks being shot off over the city.

"We would like to thank everyone for your support of this event. Unfortunately after careful consideration due to the pandemic restrictions by our state government we have no choice but to cancel the parade and fireworks for 2020. We will continue to coordinate the Medallion Hunt and the lighting contests for both residential and businesses this year. More information will be available in a few weeks. We hope you will continue your support and participation in 2021. Save the date December 2, 2021!"

The event was originally scheduled to be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020, according to a website associated with the annual event.

Fans of the event, which there are many as it's like the Holidazzle but local, should note that the event is planning on holding the event in 2021. A Facebook page for the event has set the 2021 event for Thursday, December 2, 2021, with the parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a unique fireworks show.
