MN State Patrol Shares Video Of Coming Blizzard & Warns Not To Travel

There's a system that is approaching the Northland, and it's turning out to be a blizzard. The Minnesota State Patrol shared a video on their Facebook page that shows it's a pretty serious storm out to our west.

The video is from Sgt. Jesse Gabow and it shows how bad the visibility is with this heavy snow. The trooper was assisting a vehicle that went off in the median of the road. He had also previously responded to another accident where a semi rear ended a car.

The Minnesota State Patrol advises not to travel in this storm.

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a winter storm warning for our area until midnight. The storm is expected to start as mixed precipitation, then turning to heavy snow bringing 2 to 4 inches during the day. Roads may become icy fast as temperatures drop and the mixed precipitation freezes. As it continues tonight, they are expecting an additional 3 to 5 inches or more. Winds will be a factor with gusts expected to be 50-60MPH. The heavy snow and wind can create the whiteout conditions that you see in the video above.

I spoke with Brandon Weathers this morning at WDIO, and he believes we will see at least 6 inches from this storm, and more likely higher amounts in the range of 8-12 inches. He stressed that when the storm hits, conditions will deteriorate quickly out there.
