
Minnesota Snow Totals from Friday’s Winter System
Our essentially snow-free winter of 2024-2025 (following the snow-free winter of 2023-2024) picked up more accumulation on Friday.
The outlook for February from the NOAA (National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration) is calling for normal to slightly above normal chance of snow this month. Depending where you are in the state, 'normal' ranges from 7 or 8 inches in the southern region, to a foot in the north.
Following our latest storm, brutal cold weather has settled in for the week, with dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills. Cold Weather advisories and warnings are in effect throughout the state.

Minnesota Snowfall Totals for February 14th through 16th
The original forecast earlier in the seek had been calling for 2 to 5 inches of snow across southern Minnesota.

- Viola, Minnesota - 5.0"
- Minnesota City, Minnesota - 4.2"
- Cloquet, Minnesota - 4.0"
- Dakota, Minnesota - 3.8"
- Shorewood, Minnesota - 3.3"
- Rochester, Minnesota - 3.0"
- Aitkin, Minnesota - 3.0"
- Lake City, Minnesota - 2.8"
- Northfield, Minnesota - 2.7"
- Brainerd, Minnesota - 2.5"
- Winona, Minnesota - 2.3"
- Byron, Minnesota - 2.2"
- Kasson, Minnesota - 1.9"
- MSP Airport - 1.8"
- St. Cloud, Minnesota - 1.5"
- Lanesboro, Minnesota - 0.8"
- Preston, Minnesota - 0.5"
According to NOAA's predictions for the the next couple of weeks, we can expect to see normal February snowfall, even possibly leaning to the above normal side of things.
Here's what the average snowfall in February looks like across the state:
- Faribault: 8"
- Duluth: 12"
- Owatonna: 8"
- Rochester: 9"
- St. Cloud: 7"
- Twin Cities: 8"
We haven't been too far off of the normal mark for temperatures this winter, and that trend looks like it will continue. In fact, the latest outlook suggests that we could expect normal to below normal temps.
