Minnesota Hits 35,000 COVID Cases; Young Adults Largest Category

St Paul (KROC AM News) - The number of positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota has reached 35,000 out of nearly 570,000 tests.

Health care workers make up 10-percent of the positive cases.

And a growing concern for the state Health Dept - the increasing number of young adults who are becoming infected.

Saturday’s department report on daily activity shows Minnesotans in their 20’s are now the largest category of infected cases at 7200, or roughly 20-percent of the overall total.

State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm on Friday identified several bars that have been the source of a large number of infections, including the Rounders and the 507 bars in Mankato, and the Kollege Klub and Cowboy Jack's in Dinkytown. She recommends people who have recently visited those bars to monitor closely for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested.

Six more COVID-19 deaths were confirmed on Friday, making it seven straight days with a daily total in the single digits. A total of 46 deaths were reported during that span. The state’s overall death total has risen to 1417.
