Metro-South Girls Hockey Falls in Overtime
The Metro-South Phoenix which includes Faribault has part of their co-op along with Burnsville a couple of St. Paul schools and DeLaSalle lost a 4-3 overtime heartbreaker today in Prior Lake.
The loss dropped the Phoenix to 3-9 in the South Suburban Conference and 7-9 overall.
The Lakers are now 5-6-1 and 10-7-1.
Prior Lake had a 3-0 lead going into the third period when Metro South scored three goals to force overtime.
Lulu Swanson scored the game winner for the Lakers 1:55 into overtime. It was her 18th goal of the season. Assists to Ava Guillemette (2) and Brooke Holmes (16).
Prior Lake scored two goals in the first period. 4:55 Clara Gillen (5) assisted by Allie Cammrrer (1) and Siena Kropp (5).
7:57 Guillemette scored her 9th goal of the year with assists by Swanson (8) and Jaiden Zollmann (4).
Prior Lake added a goal in the second period at 15:26 when Ava Anderson scored a unassisted goal. Her first of the season.
Scoring in the third period for Metro South at 6:33 Madisyn Krumholz (13) assists by Ella Bond (7) and Olivia Tilbury (5).
Aurelia Meza (3) scored unassisted at 12:24 and with 15 seconds to go in the game Charlotte Goings got her 5th goal with assists to Bond (8) and Lily Keefe (3).
Three of the Phoenix losses have been by one goal, two others by 2 goals.
Metro South hosts Apple Valley Thursday 6:30 p.m. then travels to Lakeville South Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. game.
Olivia Hansen was between the pipes for Prior Lake to pick up her 7th win. She now has a .930 save percentage and 2.33 GAA. Hansen had 26 saves.
Millie Farrington had 28 saves for Metro South.
