North Branch, MN (KROC-AM News) - Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were dispatched to east central Minnesota Friday night to investigate an officer-involved shooting.

An initial report from the BCA indicates Chisago County Sheriff's deputies and officers from the North Branch Police Department responded around 10 PM to reports of a suicidal man in North Branch. The report states that law enforcement officers encountered a man armed with a sword when they arrived at the scene.

Yellow police tape

The BCA says, at some point, the North Branch officers and the deputies fired less than lethal rounds at the man and then shot and wounded the man with their regular department firearms. The same officers then performed life-saving measures on the man until paramedics took over and transported him to a hospital for treatment. The BCA says he is expected to survive.

The report also indicates a sword was recovered at the scene and law enforcement body cameras capture the incident.
