The Kasson Mantorville Komets knew they had a tough draw in the first round of the Class 3A State Girls Basketball Tournament, but got a glimpse at their future.  Boy, is it bright!  6'2 freshman post Kristin Scott had a double double in the first half, but top ranked Fergus  Falls prevailed in the end 61-52.  Scott had 10 points and 10 carems in the first half and the Komets trailed 31-29.  The Otters implemented a 2-3 packed in zone in the second half and Scott had just two touches, one of them on a put back.  The freshman finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds.  K-M  outrebounded Fergus Falls 52 to 40 but the Baker Borgstrom and Durst accounting stat of the game turned out to be 20 Komets turnovers to the Otters 8.  Kasson-Mantorville, one of three H-V-L teams in the tournament ends their season with a 25-6 record and graduates just one player, Morgan O'brien.  Fergus Falls had a bit of a Faribault connection.  Their high school Principal is Dean Monke, former Faribault Middle School Principal and his daughter was one of the top scorers on the team and the 6'0 post will head the University of Minnesota Duluth in the fall after scoring over a thousand points in her high school career.
