Snowfall report totals from throughout the KDHL region indicate the Faribault area was in the middle of the band of snow that passed through Thursday night into Friday.

Kenyon reported 14 inches as of noon Friday and another inch was reported in the afternoon for a total of 15 inches.

Faribault had 10 inches as of our Midday Report on Friday and a few more inches fell in the afternoon for a grand total of about a foot of new snow.

Here are some other snowfall amounts as listed by the National Weather Service.

  • Mapleton, 13 inches
  • Pepin, Wis., 12.7 inches
  • Waseca, 11.6 inches
  • Nerstrand, 10.3 inches
  • Owatonna, 10 inches
  • 7 miles east of Dennison, 10 inches
  • Pine Island, 10 inches
  • Janesville, 9.5 inches
  • Ellendale, 9.2 inches
  • Red Wing, 9 inches
  • Welcome in Martin County, 8 inches
  • Mankato, 6 inches

Most of these totals were reported about noon on Friday but a few were recorded earlier in the day, according to the National Weather Service.

The record for the most amount of snow on a February 24 previously was 1 inch in Faribault.
