Fall is often seen as a time for vibrant colors in Minnesota. We live in a state that has 4 truly distinct seasons, although it seems winter is the longest of the 4. The Kenyon Police Department is getting in on the bright fall colors this year as the department is participating in the "Pink Patch Project" during the month of October, according to a social media post.

The social media post from the police department goes on to explain why the department will be donning the pink patches. The project is part of a nationwide campaign "in which First Responders across the nation design their patch in the color pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Our officers will be wearing these patches on their uniforms during the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month."

You can also help support breast cancer awareness and donate towards finding a cure and get a pretty sweep police patch in the process. "The general public can purchase a patch starting [last week] from the Kenyon Police Department in person for $10, or at this link for $11 to cover shipping. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society."

If you have any questions, please contact Officer Mitch Taylor or Administrative Assistant Linda Bean at 507-789-5214.
Last year the City of Faribault went purple with their patches in order to "raise awareness of domestic violence, raise funds for Hope Center."
It's great to see local municipalities do different things to raise awareness and funds to defeat cancer.
