The Kasson-Mantorville KoMets took care of business in their Quarterfinal and Semifinal Team matches today at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Meanwhile the Simley Spartans crushed Totino-Grace 64-12 before rolling past Watertown-Mayer 51-10.

Simley is the top seed and Guillotine top-rated team. The KoMets are ranked #2 and were seeded #2 in Class AA.

Kasson-Mantorville defeated the Mora Mustangs 49-13 before outmuscling the Becker Bulldogs 31-24.

Eighth grader Broc Vaughn got each match started right for K-M achieving a technical fall against Mora and regular decision in the Becker match.

Mora got 3 wins in their match while Becker came into the semifinals undefeated and led by 2 points as late as following the170 pound match.

The dual lasted over 2 hours with one fall for each team and a lot of stoppages for blood control.

Broc Threinen and I chose sophomore Luke Swanson at 138 pounds for the Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of the Match for delivering an impressive 12-3 major decision over senior #7 rated Ethan Anderson.

Swanson was ranked #9 at 138 pounds in the latest Guillotine MSHSL high school Class AA rankings.

Each team had one fall in the match.  At 220 pounds top rated 195 pound KoMets wrestler senior Bennett Berge completed the pin in 3:43 for our KM Telecom fastest pin of the match.

It was not as fast as the high speed internet KM Telecom can deliver but it was the only K-M pin so did earn that award.

The fastest KoMets fall in the Mora match was by junior Cole Glazier at 170 pounds, 1:08.

The Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of that match was awarded to sophomore Joey Kennedy with a 13 to 5 major decision over #7 ranked 132 pound sophomore Nathan Nelson.

Coverage of the title match will begin on KDHL 920 AM, 97.9 FM, FREE KDHL app at 7:00 p.m. with former KoMet wrestler, coach and current Activities Director for Kasson-Mantorville Broc Threinen joining me for the hold by hold.

There are not many along press row giving the KoMets a chance but if K-M can stay within striking distance going into the 170 pound match it could be very exciting.

Each team has three top ranked wrestlers at their weight class.

The Spartans have 10 rated wrestlers, the KoMets 7.

This is when all those hours in the wrestling room come into action
