Potter is expected to tell the jury she thought she had grabbed her Taser while trying to prevent the 20-year-old Wright from driving off during a traffic stop on April 11th.

Seven men and seven women were selected to head the trial. Nine are white, one is black and two are Asian. The 49-year-old Potter is white.

The shooting took place as the Derek Chauvin trial was underway.  The former Minneapolis police officer was later convicted of killing George Floyd.

Wright's death led to protests, violence, and extensive property damage during the week after the shooting.
