The Janesville Jays took advantage of 10 walks and 4 Morristown errors in a 9-0 win over the Morries at Bell Field in Faribault Friday night.  Morristown ended their season 12-10 and the Jays are 10-12 and play Saturday morning in Waterville.  Matt Saemrow started the game for the Morries and went 6 1/3 innings.  He struck out 8 and walked 7 while allowing 5 hits.  5 of the 7 runs that scored got on base by a walk.  Saemrow threw 139 pitches, 80 for strikes.

Andrew Fisel threw the first 6 innings for the Jays.  He tossed 74 pitches, 49 for strikes.  Fisel struck out 2 and did not walk a batter.  The Jays also played errorless ball in the game.  Morristown had 8 hits and Janesville 7.  The Jays left 10 runners on base, 5 in scoring position while the Morries had 8 runners left on base, 4 in scoring position.

It was 2-0 Janesville after they scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning on an error with two outs.  The Jays erupted for 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning thanks in part to 3 errors and 5 walks allowed by two different pitchers in the inning.

The Morries had their chances early in the game.  Ben Lamont started the bottom of the first inning with a double and was sacrificed  to third but stranded there.  Jake Schwichtenberg led the third inning off with a single and did not score.  The best chance came in the bottom of the fourth when Bradley VanDense stroked a single to start the inning.   He was thrown out trying to steal second base.  Right after that cleanup hitter Saemrow hit a single.  Bryan Lamont started the fifth inning with a single and Ben Lamont had a single to start the 8th inning.

The Jays will play 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Waterville against Arlington.  The A's beat Blue Earth 1-0.  Janesville and Arlington have to win two games Saturday to advance to the third place game Sunday at Noon in Gaylord.

The Waterville Indians are heading to state for the first time since 2012.  The Indians bested Gaylord 5-2 with Faribault native Riley Schultz cranking a homer.  In the other winner's bracket semi-final Jordan rolled by Belle Plaine 9-0 at the Mini-Met to punch their ticket to state also.

Waterville and Jordan play for the Region 6C title Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  The winner gets a first weekend bye at State and the loser is the number two seed out of Region 6C.
