An Illinois man was charged today (2/23) for a murder that happened nearly 3 years ago.

According to a press release from the City of Rockford Police Department, back on Monday, July 12, 2021, officers responded to the area of Lexington Avenue and Hudson Street around 1:25 am for a report of a shooting victim.

Rockford Police arrived on the scene and identified Lamar Glover who was suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Glover was immediately transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries, according to the press release.

When investigating this shooting the Rockford Police Crime Gangs Unit was able to identify the suspect as Hezekiah Glover, who was already in the Stephenson County Jail on unrelated charges.

The Winnebago County State Attorney's Office has charged 34-year-old Hezekiah Glover of Rockford, Illinois with First-Degree Murder.

As the investigation continues to develop "further details and charges may come at a later date," according to Rockford Police.
