This Has Got To Be Illinois’ Weirdest Guinness World Record

The time and dedication needed to set or break a Guinness World Record is commendable.

When you do it twice, you must ask yourself why exactly you are doing this.

After seeing Mental Floss' list of The Weirdest Guinness World Records from Each U.S. State I know why, at least when it comes to the one set in Illinois.

According to Guinness World Records, Salacnib "Sonny" Molina "has broken this record twice already and trained to regain his title to honor a promise he made his dad. Sonny says that his dad taught him so much, including not to give up when things get in your way."

Those "things" aren't necessarily in Molina's way, but more like under his feet.

You see, Molina is the world record holder for the farthest distance walking barefoot on LEGO bricks.

It's OK to wince a bit after reading that because I did too. That also means you know what it feels like to step on one LEGO brick. Imagine an entire pathway filled with those things.

Molina, from Woodstock Illinois, set the record for walking barefoot on LEGO bricks by traveling 29,195 feet on May 1, 2021.

In case you are wondering, converting to feet, Molina walked just over 5.5 miles on top of those bricks, which sounds painful. All told it took him over seven hours to walk that distance.

I had no idea there was such a competitive scene in the "walking barefoot on LEGO bricks" but there is which makes me wonder, how long with Molina's record stand?
