If you're looking for a last-minute summer road trip, have you checked out the Strangest Roadside Attraction in Minnesota?

The Summer of 2024 is rapidly approaching, so if you're looking to sneak in a quick day trip with the family, you might want to consider heading west for an attraction that will give you some amazing vacation selfies. Selfies that might even make your friends green with envy.

That's because this massive, green statue has just been named the Strangest Roadside Attraction in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. It's located a little over two hours south of the Twin Cities metro and about 90 minutes west of Rochester just off I-90. Do you know what it is?

If you said, "Ho, ho, ho... Green Giant!" you're right. That's because the 55-foot Jolly Green Giant statue, which proudly stands tall over in Blue Earth, Minnesota, has just been named Minnesota's Strangest Roadside Attraction, according to this 24/7 Wall Street survey.

Yes, pack the kids in the SUV and head west to see the larger-than-life statue version of the familiar character you've likely seen many times on the label of Green Giant brand of vegetables!

Here's what 24/7 Wall Street had to say about it:

'The 55.5-foot Jolly Green Giant statue grew out of a local radio station owner’s 'Welcome Travelers' program. As he interviewed people who passed through town, he gave them Green Giant vegetables (canned in a local factory) at the end of each show. The guests would sometimes ask, 'Where’s the Green Giant?' An idea and a monument were born,' the site says.

While I appreciate the kitschiness of the Jolly Green Giant statue, I've not actually seen it in person. I think I'd rather hit up some cool hiking trails at one of Minnesota's many state and county parks, although getting a selfie with the Jolly Green Giant might be worth the trip west. If that's not your thing, though, keep scrolling to check out some other cool summer activities you can do here in the Bold North.
