Gavin Kaysen, an accomplished chef who has been honored with the James Beard award, grew up in Minneapolis and always dreamed of opening a restaurant in Minnesota. Specializing in French Cuisine, he takes inspiration from that culinary style in his award-winning eatery which opened nearly 10 years ago and highlights seasonally fresh Midwest ingredients.

What Is The James Beard Award?

According to the foundation's website: "Established in 1990 with the first awards given in 1991, the James Beard Awards are among the nation’s most prestigious honors recognizing leaders in the culinary and food media industries, and those in the broader food systems."

A message posted to Spoon and Stable's Facebook page explained why they'll be closing.

"As we approach our tenth anniversary at Spoon and Stable this year, we're full of gratitude to have welcomed so many wonderful guests and talented team members through our doors."

The eatery revealed plans to undergo remodeling, leading to a temporary closure of just over two weeks.

"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to make upgrades to our space to make it more welcoming than ever! To accomplish this work, Spoon and Stable will be closed from Saturday, January 27th until Monday, February 12. From the chairs you dine in to the light fixtures and flooring, we're refreshing the way we think about our food and service, while staying true to the Spoon and Stable you know and love. When we welcome you back in February, you might not notice a difference, or you may find some new things to love. Either way, we look forward to welcoming you back with a toast!"

All 37 Minnesota Restaurants that Have Been Featured on the Food Network

Many Minnesota restaurants have been featured on the Food Network over the years. Some have closed now, but I checked out the Food Networks website, the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives website, and TVFoodMaps.com to find all of the Minnesota restaurants that have been featured on their channel in the past and found these 37 (in no particular order) that are still open.
