A huge, worldwide beer competition was hosted just last week. During the competition beers are submitted to be judged in different categories. At the end of the competition, the top three beers and their breweries are given an award for their respective category.

At this year's competition, six Minnesota breweries can now say they serve some of the best beer in the world!

The World Beer Cup

The competition is called the World Beer Cup. This year, the awards ceremony was held at The Venitian in Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 24th.

As their website says, this is "The Most Prestigious Beer Competition in the World".

I didn't go through and count all of the categories but I'm pretty certain there are at least 100 different categories that breweries could submit their beers to. And then the top three beers are selected as the winners for each category.

The categories ranged from well-known types of beers like IPAs and Wheat Beers. Then there are some much more niche categories like Chili Beers and South German-Style Bernsteinfarbenes Weizen.
