An elderly Minnesota dog got himself in a sticky situation. But thankfully, an unlikely group of people were in the area and were able to help the dog.

This poor dog's name is Ed and he's a 13-year-old St. Bernard. 13! That's impressive for a St. Bernard. Anyway, he lives on a large property where he can roam around and ended up getting himself stuck in a ton of mud along the Minnesota River.

Fortunately for Ed, there was a bachelor party canoeing by!

The groom-to-be, Mitch, told WCCO with a laugh, "My fiancée, Kelly, probably won't marry me if we don't get this dog out of here!" That's so funny because my husband would have said the same thing if he were in that situation.

Mitch and his friends heard a bark and realized there was a dog looking for help! So they came to his aid with all of their oars, trying to dig the poor guy out. They gave him food and water and eventually were able to get him free with the help of first responders.

Ed's owner, George, was so happy to have Ed back! He said that Ed likes to roam but will always come back. This time he had been gone for more than a day.

The poor dog had used so much strength trying to get out that he couldn't walk when he first got home but he's been regaining his strength and eating and drinking lots of water. Hopefully Ed makes a quick recovery and I'm so glad the bachelor party was nice enough to stop and help!
