Devastating Update About Animal at Como Park Zoo In Minnesota
The land of 10,000 lakes was rejoicing these past few weeks after some amazing news. If you missed it, a baby giraffe was born at the favorite Como Zoo in Minnesota. I thought my babies were huge at 9.5 pounds but this new bundle of joy showed up at a shocking 6 ft and weighed in at 132 pounds! Unfortunately, a heartbreaking announcement was just shared about another animal in their care.

Como Park Zoo in Minnesota Gives Devastating Update About Well-Loved Animal
One of the favorite attractions in Minnesota for families is Como Park Zoo & Conservatory. The variety of animals that you can see during your visit is so vast, you could really stay there for hours as you learn and enjoy them all. Sadly, one of the oldest animals in the zoo has passed away.
We had a lot of fun this week naming the baby giraffe, but we also have some sad news we’d like to share. It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Cupid, our oldest the African Penguin.
His zookeepers, the ones who knew him best, had this to share about Cupid:
“Most penguins are known to be charismatic and loveable, but Cupid was above and beyond what anyone would expect. It should be no surprise that a bird who hatches on Valentines Day would be special, and he certainly was. Pipping out of his shell right here at Como Zoo on February 14, 1991 and waddling across that rainbow bridge 32 years later he was loved by so many. Cupid was always ready to be the center of attention, whether it was making an appearance on the news or in a classroom. Even when the state was on lockdown Cupid found a way to make everyone smile with his frequent visits to the flower gardens and his photogenic good looks. He was always the first bird to accept new zookeepers as his friend, the first to teach interns and apprentices the best way to feed a penguin and the first to let students admire his beautiful tuxedo feathers. His keepers will miss being greeted at the door every morning. His penguin partner BJ will miss their many outings together exploring Como Zoo and educating so many people.
