If Rochester, Minnesota had a middle name, it would be "construction".  New parking ramps and in the process of being created, 10+ cranes will be in the sky helping build numerous structures, and a new transit system is also in the works.

In other words, we know the color "orange" very well.  And quite a few of the orange cones and construction zones in town are due to the massive $5 billion expansion at Mayo Clinic.

Before Mayo Clinic's $5 billion expansion is finished, you can get a glimpse at what this project is going to look like - in LEGO.  Keep reading, I'll tell you where you can find this in Rochester right now.

You Can See Mayo Clinic's $5 Billion Expansion in LEGO Right Now in Rochester

If you love going to the Mall of America and seeing the giant LEGO sculptures, you'll love this.

Earlier today, I was at Mayo Clinic in Rochester with my husband for some of his appointments.  He got sick a few years ago and am truly thankful for the multiple departments who work on his complicated chronic illnesses.

During our trip to the Gonda Building, we saw the peregrine falcon, heard a choir, got an overhead view of the construction near the Peace Plaza, found one of the robot vacuums, saw a guy I knew playing the piano, and chatted with some great Drs.  Before we left the clinic for the day, there was one more stop that I wanted to make - I wanted to see some LEGO's.

I heard that a LEGO display of Mayo's $5 Billion Bold. Forward. Unbound. expansion was on display.  If you haven't had a chance to view it yet, I'll tell you where to find this massive display below.

Where To Find Mayo Clinic's Bold. Forward. Unbound. $5 Billion Expansion For Rochester In LEGO

Right now, the downtown area of Rochester, Minnesota is a construction zone.  Parking ramps have been eliminated, orange cones and signs are constantly changing places, and construction equipment is the norm.

Over the next 6 years, the downtown Rochester campus will see five new buildings that total 2.4 million square feet for Mayo Clinic.  The technology inside of those structures will transform how care is delivered.

Thankfully, skyways and tunnels will be part of the plan - which is great since we live in Minnesota.

Below is an update on how many jobs this project is supposed to bring to our community and a timeline when it will be done.  But first, I have to tell you where you can find this amazing LEGO display created by Lego Master Randall Wilson.

  • Go to the Gonda Building
  • Make your way to the Lobby/Main floor - this is also the street entrance
  • Go to the area where Patient Admissions is location, which is near the staircase that takes you down to the Subway level.
  • A large display, like the one below, features the massive LEGO display of the $5 billion expansion
