SARTELL (WJON News) - Students at Sartell Middle School had an extra reason to enjoy lunch on Thursday.

Mary Lou Westra, the lunchroom supervisor since 2015, turned 95 years old and was honored during the lunch hour.

Sartell Middle School Principal Angela Sfaran said she polled the students for adjectives that describe Mary Lou.

I was hoping for 95 Good strong adjectives but about 10 of them kept coming up lovely respected wise dedicated funny joyful sharp tiny but fierce.

Mary Lou Westra began working at the school district as a substitute paraprofessional in 2002 and became the lunchroom supervisor in 2015.

She says she was happy to get the birthday party.

I just tell them thank you and I'm so grateful for them I get hugs from so many I can't believe it it's on me shouldn't be good I always tell them that

Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum, school officials, and members of Westra’s family were on hand to celebrate her birthday.
