Road Construction 2024: Sherburne County
ELK RIVER (WJON News) -- Sherburne County has a fairly busy road construction season ahead.
One of the larger projects is County Road 65, also known as 42nd Street SE. Designs are calling for wider shoulders and other improved safety measures. The work will take place between County Road 8 to Highway 10 and will require a detour. The intersection work on the east end and a new rail crossing will be completed in 2025.
County Road 28 will undergo a reconstruction from County Road 19 to the Isanti county line. That work is scheduled to begin in June and go through September. A lengthy detour will be in place during that time.
County Road 20 on the east side of Highway 10 will be reconstructed starting in July.
County Road 1 west of Zimmerman will be resurfaced and two roundabouts will be built on Fremont Avenue in Zimmerman. One of the roundabouts will be at 10th Street and the other at County Road 45.
And, construction continues this year on County Road 43 in Big Lake with a roundabout built at Glenwood Avenue and 205th Avenue NW.
A major project on Highway 169 in Zimmerman won't get started until the spring of 2025 with the local work. The main interchange work by MnDOT won't begin until 2026.
