Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- An Olmsted County Jury has convicted a 25-year-old woman accused of threatening her coworker with a knife at a Rochester business.

The jurors returned the verdict at the end of a two-day trial that started on Monday. She was charged in the case in January of 2024

Josephina Iba Omerichamoi was accused of producing the knife in her manager’s office. The criminal complaint indicates she followed the victim into the office because the victim was going to discuss a dispute she had with Omerichamoi.

During the discussion the woman said Omerichamoi pulled out a pocket knife, unfolded the blade, pointed it at the victim and said “you can’t do this to me.” 

Manager Deescalated Co-Worker Dispute Involving Knife, Charges Say

The victim said Omerichamoi was holding the knife while blocking the only exit from the manager’s office, the charges say.

The manager told officers he instructed the victim to step away from Omerichamoi then told Omerichamoi to put away the knife.

Omerichamoi complied with the manager's request and was escorted off the premises before being arrested, according to the complaint. The complaint does not name the business.

Omerichamoi was charged with second-degree assault and fifth-degree assault. Court records indicate the jury found her guilty on both counts. 

She is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
