Undated (KROC-AM News)- Minnesota is experiencing another spike of traffic deaths on the state’s roads.

Seven people have lost their lives as the result of six crashes reported throughout the state between April 25 and April 30. Two people died in a crash on the northern edge of the Twin Cities on Friday. 

A jogger was struck and killed by a pick-up in rural southwestern Minnesota on Saturday. On Sunday a 55-year-old Rochester man died in a rollover crash in rural northern Rochester.

A 3-year-old boy died in a head-on crash in a Hwy. 52 construction zone in Dakota County Monday morning and a man injured in a crash in Becker, MN on April 25 has since died from his injuries

Minnesotan Killed in Head-on Crash With Semi

The State Patrol responded to the seventh traffic death since April 25 in rural southwest Worthington on Tuesday night, where 33-year-old Codey James Fisher of Worthington was driving a pick-up north on Hwy. 59/60.

Fisher’s pick-up and a semi traveling in the opposite direction collided head-on around 5:15 p.m. Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene, the state crash report says. 

The truck driver, identified as 45-year-old Brandon Allen Hunter of Shevlin, MN, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both men were buckled up and the road was wet at the time of the fatal collision. 

2024 Minnesota Traffic Deaths Outpacing 2023 Fatalities

The past week has mirrored a trend seen on the state’s roads since the start of the year. On Tuesday the Minnesota State Patrol reported 100 people have died on Minnesota roads so far this year.

Fatalities reported on the state’s roads through April 30 of last year was 69. Officials are reminding Minnesotans to slow down, put distractions away, wear your seat belt and always drive sober.
