Kellogg, MN (KROC-AM News)- A teenage girl was taken to a hospital after the vehicle she was riding in hit a cow on a southeast Minnesota highway.

The State Patrol responded to the traffic incident shortly after 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. It happened on Hwy. 42 in Wabasha County

The state crash report says an SUV was traveling south on the two-lane highway when it hit the animal at the intersection of 170th Ave., which is about two miles southwest of Kellogg.

The report identifies the teen passenger as 14-year-old Raegan Marie Hoffman of Lake City. She was taken to a hospital in Wabasha for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The SUV driver, identified as 44-year-old Bridget Marie Hoffman of Lake City, was not hurt. The woman and girl were both buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the collision, the report says.

The Wabasha Police Department, Wabasha Fire Department, Wabasha Ambulance and Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the traffic incident.
