The Minneapolis man was driving at an estimated speed of 80 mph when he collided with the side of a State Patrol squad car at the intersection of Aldrich Ave. South and West 46th St. in Minneapolis

He fled the crash scene but was later captured by law enforcement. The trooper was pinned in the squad car as a result of the collision, according to the complaint.

Trooper & Two Passengers Hospitalized

The law enforcement officer was brought to a hospital and was determined to have suffered a fractured right fibula and fractured left scapula, the court document says.

Two passengers, who were in the stolen car, remained at the scene and were also transported to a hospital.

The charges say one of the passengers suffered a compound leg fracture and a significant brain bleed. The other was suffering from neck pain.

Hawkins is charged with two felony counts and a gross misdemeanor count of criminal vehicular operation, felony fleeing and felony receiving stolen property.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
