Rochester City Administrator Was Finalist for Arizona Post
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The City of Rochester came close to experiencing a vacancy in its top administrative position.
Top Finalist For Job in Arizona
Last week, the Town Council in Gilbert, Arizona selected current Rochester City Administrator Alison Zelms as one of two top finalists to become its next Town Manager. Gilbert is a city of nearly 300,000 people located near Phoenix.
Visited Arizona Last Month
Zelms traveled to Arizona last month for a formal interview and to participate in a town hall meeting organized to give residents of Gilbert an opportunity to meet the candidates for the Town Manager position. She was named a top finalist for the position last week, but the Gilbert Town Council voted this week to promote current Assistant Town Manager Mario Paniagua to the job.
Hired For Rochester Position 5 Years Ago
Zelms was hired as Rochester's City Administrator in December 2020 after the previous City Administrator, Steve Rymer, resigned for family reasons. Before coming to Rochester, Zelms served as the Deputy City Manager for Mankato.
